NewsEldridge Optician has reopened We are pleased to announce that in the location of Sunday L.E.S. the former Eldridge Optician established already in the 1870, has reopened in late January 2010. Although the local Oracle in L.E.S has stated that there aren't any coincidences, the circumstances of history have given at hand an accidental occurrence. The constant transformation of the world & the city of New York, the open artery into the great America that L.E.S was is now concluding a circle. Over three centuries from 1870 to 2010 accounting with time, the additions that it makes, the turns and the changes, the Lower East Side, and the Synagogues, the Latin Quarters of NY, and now the modern city amusement park, the new cultural landscape. Eldridge Optician will exclusively work with Oscar Magnuson who had as master model for his spectacles "Theodore" the spectacles that Marina & Theodore Eldritch made in 1941 at Eldridge Optician, to the memory of Theodore Roosevelt. The world it seems, is at times intricately related, and the footprints of the past and the ones of the present match therefore perfectly. NewsThe Intricate History of Eldridge Optician In 2010 Orlando Marina Young reestablishes on 237 Eldridge Street, in Lower East Side New York, the Eldridge Optician. As part of a larger research work focusing on the study of a historic segment of migration, starting in the end of the 19th century, continuing throughout the 20th century and leading to the 21st century, and based on the bloodlines and personal relations of the researcher, Orlando Marina herself, she finds threads back to the original Eldridge Optician founded on the same address 140 years earlier by her grandmother's grandparents, a migrant couple from Sweden.
